The Business Plan
By: Michael Palma
Everything in life changes in an instant, days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months, months turn to years but the question is how are you going to spend these days. As the great master, Oogway once said,” You are too concerned with what was and what will be. There is a saying: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift.”
When My co-founder Isaac Martinez was 12 years of age, he started an eBay business that would ultimately grow to produce about $900 a month in this present day. But beforehand, when he was 12 years old he started to notice that people were starting to purchase many things off of eBay, and with that twelve-year-old intuition he was able to spot an opportunity and he took it, starting off with rare hot wheels that he found and purchased from his local 99 cents store, and those cars would sometimes on rare occasions end up selling for $20 in an auction that he would set up. But later that year he saw that Rubix cubes were starting to become popular and again he saw a chance and he took it, starting to buy Rubix cubes and modifying them into speed cube, and for those who don’t know what a speed cube is its just a faster Rubix cube that professionals use, But nonetheless he started to sell these Rubix cubes and people would find them, like them and then ultimately buy one or more from him, and now by networking he is now selling garage door openers that he gets for free.
When I was 8 years old, my brother and I started a little market on the porch of our house we sold drinks, candy, chips, and cotton candy that we would buy in bulk. And the way that I would market to those around me was a simple but highly effective course of action; I would go around to those in my neighborhood, most kids around my age, and the opening line would be “I could go for a snack right now” and they would ultimately agree on that statement and say they also wanted one too and When I would hear them say that they wanted and were craving a snack, I would see my opportunity and at that moment I would mention to them all the snacks that we had for sell and eventually sell to them. But I would say it in a way that would entice them, so they would end up buying from us. These experiences that my co-founder and I have had has led us and taught us many things in business, marketing, and starting something no matter how small eventually everything can be scaled up; we hope that through time our business plans will help people start on their own business projects and give them the information to do so.
We are now creating a podcast, this journal, and a YouTube channel that will be all be integrated with our podcast. Our main goal or what we hope to achieve out of all of this is to help, influence, and inspire others to do the same. Create something that you can be proud of because creativity in my personal experience is the way to get a good start in anything that you’re passionate about. Plus being creative and making money while doing so can make you even happier.
Creating a Podcast no matter what the topic is, it will make you think and look over your life. As you talk more and more about that topic you will be able to really think about how that has impacted and helped you better yourself. But starting a podcast has its own challenges. For example, learning to speak in a way that others can truly understand and grasp what you are saying, being able to come up with your topics might sound daunting at first, and last, be possibly the most dreadful of them all, thinking what others might think of you. But nonetheless, The first step in creating a podcast is finding a place to host it. The one we are using is called Anchor it’s a great place to get yours started. Next, creating your title is probably the most important part. Think of something that you will be proud of, a few years later down the road and something that is meaningful to you. For example, our name is The Insightful Minds and we chose that title because the word insightful means: to have an understanding of, but still able to understand more and learn more, so as we talk about the topics we know, we are still learning and understanding more on the topics we will be sharing with you. Finally, you’re going to want to think about a topic or topics that you want to cover. Something that you will be able to talk about for about +100 episodes something that you’re passionate about and love to talk about. Think of it like this, if someone randomly were to come up to you and say tell me about this one specific topic and you would be able to genuinely give your opinion and conversate for a long period of time then that might be something you can make a podcast about. But the most important thing of all is to be creative in your podcast and use that creativity to make it your own.
Creating a Blog is an amazing thing because you will be able to write about what you want to write and talk about the things that you want to talk about. It’s a good place to get your thoughts out and make sense of everything that you’re doing in life. But when creating a Blog I recommend getting a domain from GoDaddy.com, because they also host your domain there. But to create your website Wordpess is a fantastic choice to create a website on and one that you will be proud of and just create something that fits your style, your personality, and what you will be writing about. But writing in general is a great way to let your emotions out and feel better about yourself and the things that you are doing in life. It allows you to reflect on the past and be happy about the present and think about how you hope your future to turn out.
Creating a YouTube channel literally has no limits to it, you can create anything on youtube and post anything on that platform but just thinking about that can be nerve-racking. Remember nothing else matters as longs as you can be creative with everything that you do. But make no mistake, it’s going to be hard, you’re going to struggle and fail but don’t let that discourage you from creating because as the great master Shifu once said, “If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than who you are. Before the battle of the fist comes the battle of the mind.” If it’s a Podcast, a Blog, or a YouTube Channel just create something that you will be able to look back on and be proud that you did that.
